Each room is meticulously furnished with personal antique collections and art work inherited from the family of Cheong Fatt Tze. Here, you will indulge in the experience of 19th century Penang and the comforts of modern luxury, making your stay nothing less than perfect.

The Liang Collection is located along the ground and first floor of The Blue Mansion.

To enhance our guest’s experiences and understanding of the preservation of this unique, century-old building, we now invite all guests staying with us to join our complimentary evening tour at 6:30pm daily. These tours are exclusive, only available to those staying and dining at The Blue Mansion.

Chang Yu is the ornate reflection of Cheong Fatt Tze’s eminent and successful vineyard in China. Established in 1892 in the province of Shandong, Cheong Fatt Tze realized his dream of building a local Chinese winery. It is now the most successful winery in the country and one of the largest in the world.

The Hakka people were among the last ethnic group from the Han Empire to migrate to South China. Cheong Fatt Tze who is a Hakka himself, took pride in his heritage and endeavoured to preserve his ancestral traditions in Penang. The Hakka room illustrates the glory and successes of the people, with prominent Hakka figures such as Dr. Sun Yat Sen who spearheaded the revolution in China; Deng Tsiao Peng, who was a Chinese Premier; and Lee Kuan Yew, the father of modern Singapore.

The Fragrant Poem commemorates the 25 years of restoration of The Blue Mansion by the current owners. It is named after their only daughter – Szu Fen – and adds to the eclecticism of the Blue Mansion.


Twin Beds

Batavia takes on the historic Dutch name for Jakarta. It is where Cheong Fatt Tze started his career as a water carrier and later rose to fame and fortune by marrying his first employer’s daughter. It was then that his father-in-law saw a promising future in Cheong Fatt Tze and invested in his first business venture.

The Scholar is a tribute to Cheong Fatt Tze’s ardent pursuit of knowledge. Even at the height of his achievements, he never forsook the importance of reading and improving his skills and capabilities. His love for knowledge further extends to his donation and contribution to educational institutions.

Shangtung is a province in the North of China where Cheong Fatt Tze established the famous Chang Yu Winery to satisfy his passion for European wines. Today, the winery is among the 10th greatest in the world and produces western wines and brandy, as well as two Chinese herbal wines: interestingly, one for men, the other for women.

The Peony is named after a painting by Rebecca Wilkinson, a well-known Malaysian artist of mixed parentage. The name was retained to commemorate the painting of Peony which is a typical Chinese flower that used to adorn the walls of the room showing the union of Eastern and Western art forms.

Towkay was the word used to address Cheong Fatt Tze who had left home at 16 years old and worked hard to rise from rags to riches. The word literally means ‘Boss’ or ‘Head of the clan’. The title was also an acknowledgement to the self-made man as the leader of the community.

The Taipu is a tribute to the hometown of Cheong Fatt Tze and where he is buried. Coming from a family of farmers and schoolteachers, the achievements of Cheong’s had brought fame to a small town called Tai’Pu

Cheong Fatt Tze- The Blue Mansion requires that all cancellations are notified for a minimum of 7 days in writing either by fax or email prior to arrival date. Cancellations shall only be accepted when a validation is received from Cheong Fatt Tze- The Blue Mansion.

Kindly note
i) There shall be no reimbursement for any NO SHOWS, SHORTENED LENGTH OF STAYS or EARLY DEPARTURES after check-in. Full payment shall apply according to the dates that the reservation was made.

ii) Cheong Fatt Tze- The Blue Mansion is not responsible for scheduled flight or ferry cancellations. As such, no show charges shall apply.

Changes to Reservation
Any request to change a reservation must be made in writing. Cheong Fatt Tze- The Blue Mansion shall endeavor to accommodate booking changes however, this shall only be granted should the request be received 7 days or more prior to the scheduled arrival date and shall also be subjected to the availability of the room type required.
