Day 1
2pm Check-In: Arrive at the home of China’s Last Mandarin and First Capitalist and immerse yourself in the beauty of Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion. Join the 3pm tour of the mansion conducted by one of our heritage guides to discover its rich history, stories about the man himself and perhaps even why your room is named the way it is. Afternoon Tea is a lot spicier in Penang. And we think a bit more fun too. At the end of your tour of the house, a selection of Nyonya Pastries and a piping hot bowl of Assam Laksa await. Finish off with a refreshing glass of Nutmeg juice and if you’re feeling energetic, ask any of the staff for directions on where to eat next. Penang is Malaysia’s food paradise – and for good reason too.

Day 2
Breakfast is served al-fresco in our Central Courtyard. Freshly-squeezed juice, delicate homemade yogurt and jam with the freshest eggs and healthy bread made by our favourite boutique Boulangerie come together to make our breakfast the talk of the town.

After breakfast, it’s time to explore George Town. The fastest and certainly most charming way to do it is via Trishaw. Take a quick trip down narrow streets and alleyways to discover city that bustles with life. After your preview of the heritage treasures of our city, grab a map and discover old Inner-City George Town on foot. Heritage Walking Trails allow you a close-up view into a bygone era that is very much still alive today. Don’t forget to ask us where to grab a scrumptious lunch in one of the eateries in the vicinity. If that doesn’t take your fancy, curl up in one of the sections of the house with a good book or just lounge, watching the light change, watch a DVD, enjoy a traditional massage or surf the web via wi-fi provided complimentary. You’ll be amazed how quickly time passes in a home locked in the 19th Century.

After a long walk in our streets or simply lounging about, nothing is quite as refreshing as some tropical fruit. Ask one of our Butlers for a plate when you come back from your jaunt. Relax and refresh yourselves before dinner. The people of Penang are passionate about food. Let us take you to a dinner of delicious traditional Nyonya food. We will relish in telling you how these recipes were created and how they are passed down from one generation to the next. Arguably the pride of Penang, Nyonya Cuisine may add a bit to waistlines but it does wonders for the soul.

Day 3
After breakfast, take the time to write your friends and tell them of your getaway. And no, not a text message nor an email – do it the old fashioned way. We will provide you with a set of post cards of the house before you check-out. Wax lyrical about your adventures of George Town. Don’t forget to mention us.
